A private bar requires guests to pay for their own drinks. The venue typically charges a fee and sets an expected minimum for total consumption. If this minimum is not met, the host is responsible for paying the difference. Since there are no restrictions on the type or amount of alcohol, a cash bar is often preferred by groups of friends who are familiar with each other's drinking habits and consumption patterns.
